Optometrist, Doctor M. Hurlbert

Originally from Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Doctor Hurlbert returned to B.C. after graduating from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry, in 1995.  In 1997 he joined Dr. Sherman Olson at Maple Ridge Eye Care-Optometrists and assumed ownership of the practice shortly thereafter.  Doctor Hurlbert attended the Omni Eye Center in Atlanta in 1994 where he worked alongside cataract, glaucoma and retinal surgeons in the treatment of advanced eye disease.  Subsequent to this he was certified by the American Board of Examiners in the treatment and management of ocular disease.  In the fall of 2008 he participated in the Indicator of Current Learning in Optometry exam, which is administered by the Canadian Examiners in Optometry to help optometrists continue to enhance their clinical knowledge.

Doctor Hurlbert enjoys living and volunteering in the community.  He is in his eleventh year as treasurer of the Ridge Meadows Hall of Fame Society.  This non-profit organization raises funds year round to promote the extraordinary achievements of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows residents involved in the Arts, Sports, Business, Education and Community Organizations.  Soccer is also a passion of his and he has played in the Fraser Valley Soccer League for twelve years.  He was elected to serve on the College of Optometrists of BC in October, 2007, for a three year term and previously served on the BC Association of Optometry Public Relations Committee.

Optometrist, Doctor Alice Lennox

Doctor Alice Lennox joined us in the fall of 2005.  “One of the most rewarding experiences in my optometry career has been traveling to third world eye countries to provide eye care to those much less fortunate than we are here in Canada.”  As well, she completed an ocular disease residency at the prestigious Joslin Diabetic Center  Boston, Massachusetts.  In Boston she worked alongside eye surgery sub-specialists and supervised optometry students.  Her excellent patient care and expertise make her a welcome addition to our clinic.

We have expanded our office hours on Thursday evenings until 8:00 pm.  Remember, you do not require a physician's referral to see your optometrist, however, we will inform your family doctor of any general health or eye health issues that arise.
